 Hi folks
I have been a jazz lover since 1949, and listened to jazz all my life, umpteen records, tapes and memories, Louis at the Albert Hall , Ella in Manchester Bristol and elsewhere, Basie, Ellington, MJQ, Ronnie Scott, Tubby Hayes,  Dankworth, Laine, and many more, too many to mention.
At the age of 73 I decided to do something about it and bought an alto sax, converting to a Tenor at a later date.
I now suffer from C O P d and the lungs restrict the performance but I can manage a slow to medium paced tune                                  subject to breath.

I would love to join you guys for a break so will be looking to come up shortly, I live in Plymouth but my daughter lives in Tamworth so quite feasible

Hello Folks. I was a brief attendee at Jazz School a year or two ago.
I'm in a  rock/ swing band in Cambridge along with Heather Jones who is a flautist at Jazz School. Our sax player's future is uncertain and we are looking for a dep/ replacement to to join us. Soloing is a must! Please give a listen on our FB page and get in touch if you think it's for you. We are starting to get a little following in the area and gig roughly twice a month give or take... Thanks, John

Did you enjoy the course Andrea? I'm thinking about enrolling into something similar over the holidays.

I have now bought Notion - but have yet to discover much in there that I couldn't do with Musescore at least for making leadsheets
Announcements, Events & News / Players wanted for world music big band, London
« Last post by Theresa Reynolds on September 11, 2017, 08:53:32 AM »
Band led by trombonist Annie Whitehead. It's an eclectic lineup (we currently include a bass clarinet and an accordion) so all offers considered, though we particularly need trumpets.

Repertoire includes Herbie Hancock, Jonas Gwangwa, Don Drummond, Gordon Goodwin, Fela Kuti, Charles Mingus, Horace Silver - so not your standard big band swing repertoire.

It's a teaching band so you'll have a chance to work on your soloing. And we get to play the odd gig at the Vortex!!

Rehearsals Monday nights 7.30 to 9.30, close to King's Cross Station in central London.

If you're interested, get in touch:

Having stood at Tubby Hayes feet at Bosham Jazz club as a school kid and messed about with various instruments over the years finally got around to learning the sax properly during the last two or three years. Now playing in a big band and just about keeping up and in a concert orchestra which plays all kinds of stuff. Live and play in Cambridge.

Looking forward to the summer B & I weekend and meeting other jazzers.

Yes, that's the version I learned, but that's the clearest part I've seen the meladerm pics on - thanks! Have now done the set (concert, bass, Bb Eb) and uploaded to website...

This is a good one David, thanks!

Hi everyone! As a newbie here a few words re myself...

Into Blues and Jazz, but appreciating all kinds of music. I attend the occasional workshop, my most recent one being the theory shed on Blues Pathways. I play mostly guitar (12 string and 6, elec & acoustic) but also dabble in Mandolin, Uke, hand percussion - I also sing (baritone) but on this point not everyone agrees! I write lyrics/poems quite a few, but can't compose tunes to go with, so any help in this area plus general jamming would be appreciated (I am based in Northampton). Other passions: Porkpie hats, wine, cooking.

Thanks for reading!
